Lily’s Elephant

More Diversity Day projects at school this week, this one for a class studying India. I pulled out my old Watercolor for Elephants project, but asked students to make their animals MUCH more decorated. Seems there’s a town in India that literally dresses up elephants for a parade every year, complete with anklets and headdress, and crowns one of them the most beautiful. That sounds like a place for my bucket list. Thanks to talented Lily, a 3rd grader, for letting me share her amazing painting.

The elephant festival is in Jaipur, India. I was just there in January and got to ride an elephant. There is actually a whole refuge set up by the government to take care of these elephants!
