Back to School Half Portrait

Every fall I look for a new twist on a self-portrait project to start the school year. I like this one as I think students won’t have to struggle with symmetry, and the fold guides will force them to draw BIG, which in my opinion almost always makes art more interesting.

This will be a fun activity for the students to complete on a Friday.

Do you have a template that can be downloaded?

No, I don't have a template, but if you just fold the paper three times as shown by the dotted blue lines, you will get your guide lines.

what size paper is this? I love this idea. Thanks

It's 9" x 12". My favorite right now is the Strathmore Drawing Pack paper. It's thin enough to fold, but still strong for coloring.
