Hi Kathy
What a fun theme. I have just completed an art unit with my KG classes on Paul Klee's "Castle and Sun". We practised cutting and sticking skills by cutting out various shapes and gluing them down onto sugar paper. They then had to paint each shape by using water colors. It looks magnificent and my students learned so many skills in the process. We also made the same project on black paper and drew shapes in colored chalk. I will definately include your activity when we do the project again as it is an ideal way to work with larger class sizes. I look forward to using your sight more often.
Thanks
Nadene
Just wanted to let you know how much we love these murals--all of them.
The students color in oil pastels, then we mount them on foam core that is custom cut to the size of the mural ($5.00 per square foot at FedEx Kinko's).
We cover the foam core with Mod Podge, put the mural pieces down, and then cover it all with another layer of Mod Podge. The Mod Podge smooths it all out and of course preserves the mural--and everything looks great. We're going to hang the latest batch in the cafeteria for decoration.
THANK YOU!
