1. I gave each student a small piece of gold tooling, about 3" x 5", cut out with just regular scissors. The students place it on a few layers of newspaper, and draw firmly with a dull pencil to deboss an image. To imboss an image, it needs to be drawn on the back of the metal and flipped so the image is raised.
2. Sharpie markers are used to color in the different areas.
3. The final art may be attached to a 6" x 9" folded card with double sided tape. I recommend using a quality paper as this card is a keeper!

I LOVE THIS SITE SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!! Thanks for all the GREAT ideas! You are saving me tons of hours a week in prep, thinking, everything! I am going to go an relax in the bath now, we are making the cats next week!
I remember doing something similar with cardboard and aluminum foil when I was a kid. You took a piece of cardboard, drew on it with glue and then stuck on a thick string of yarn. Then it was covered with aluminum foil - pressing down around the string so it was raised underneath. Color with Sharpies and it was an instant masterpiece! I had mine hanging on my bedroom wall until I moved out. :)
My friends and I really liked this article. It was very descriptive and worked out just like you said. Have you been to Wacanai.com(http://www.wacanai.com/intro). They have a bunch of articles on there. You can link your webpage to it so it drives traffic to your website to. They also give you a list of articles that have something in common with yours so you can get some new ideas.
Great site.
I am an elementary art teacher and started my own blog TODAY. It's still a work-in-progress as I learn how to set it up, but I'm anxious to get people to see it and comment, criticize, advise, etc. It's called There's a Dragon in My Art Room and you can find it at: http://plbrown.blogspot.com/
Please take a look!
Ever since mothers are the main reason why we are here, they surely deserve at least such a pretty card like that in order to celebrate them their special day
