Van Gogh Iris Mural

Van Gogh’s “Irises” painting has lots of color and texture which I imitated with oil pastels. I’ve created a large mural template that has the basic shapes of this painting, but leaves room for creative interpretation.
My Iris Mural consists of 24 letter-size pages. In full format it measures 40" x 32". This sample was colored with a 48-pack of Reeves® Oil Pastels. I used color combos for the four basic elements of the painting: light blue/dark blue for the flowers, light green/dark green for the leaves, gold/brown for the bottom ground, and green and yellow for the top. Instructions include my ideas for setting up what I call “controlled random” coloring, but many variations are possible.
You can purchase my pdf file with instructions for just $5. Click the “Add to Cart” button below to make your payment and receive download instructions.

Great open house project! How about some Matisse murals?

I love your murals and plan on buying several of them! I teach 1st grade at an IB Elementary. One of our planners deals with how we express ourselves through art and we learn about many famous artists. I am toying with the idea of making at least one of them an item donated to our parent auction to raise money for our school. Do you have any suggestions on how I can frame or mount one of your murals inexpensively?
