Sometimes the simplest projects are the ones with the best results.1. Have the student fold a piece of 9" x 12" paper in half both ways. Trace folds with a pencil.
2. Demonstrate how to draw a simple line drawing of a cat that fills up 3/4 of the paper.
3. Have the student trace all the pencil lines with a black marker and fill in the cat and background with oil pastel colors. The colors are to change whenever they go across a line.

I have your blog in my reader, and I look forward to each and every post. You are a genius at simple, childlike fun! Thanks for sharing!!!
I have to second what Mom's Sewing Vault said. I look forward to seeing your posts each day too!
I volunteer at the elementary school in my village in Costa Rica doing an arts & crafts class for 3rd and 4th graders. We did this project last week and at first the kids thought it looked too hard. When we broke it down into steps most of them were able to do it and were very happy with the project.
I get lots of inspiration from your blog. Thank you so much!
I recently discovered your blog. I'm an art docent - new to it - and your projects are perfect! We did a variation of this project today. My class is a 1st/2nd grade and I only get 45 minutes, so I pre-printed a flower and let them work on folding, tracing with the sharpie, and coloring with the pastels. The results are beautiful! Thank you!
